The Winter Preservation

Truth be told, our garden did not really perish. Some people really worried about that. All the hard work through the year, swallowed up by a little ice? No. We actually preserved the remnant. While most of the garden did perish -- like radishes, mustard, and okra -- the herbs did well. The basil and parsley are still growing, although the basil is doing somewhat better than the parsley. And the chilli plant is well too. We dug them up and transplanted them indoors into my kitchen, where the sunlight shines through the window in the morning. Its winter, so the sun rises more in the south east and sets in the south west. And my kitchen faces south. The front door does not get direct sunlight at all. I've also moved the "money" plant and the bamboo to the rear. Hopefully they will make it through the winter...as will we.

The Garden Finale

After months of toil and effort, our garden has finally delivered its last fruits. We therefore bury it under the snow. Or rather, the snow just came, we didn't have to do anything. :)

Day 6: Its Alive!?

This morning, the Lady's Finger really really sprouted. Its interesting. This one was actually the one that sprouted latest, yet it fast overtaking it other 4 siblings. The other four still haven't shown any leaves yet. Yet this one has already seemed to stem. The first picture was taken in the morning.

We went for work and came back in the evening, and guess what, the little bugger really shot up. The second picture was taken in the evening of the same day! There is some super growing going on here, and its happening right in front of our eyes.

Day 5: Germination!

The Little Fingers continue to grow into Lady's Fingers ... maybe. The roots seems to have come out and point down to go into the soil. How do they know that? I hear its because plant roots have these starch globules that sink down because of gravity and this causes the roots to develop more in that direction...that's how! Cool eh?

The parsley has sprouted some different, more parsley-looking, leaves. The basil leaves are starting to mature a little more too, looking less and less like baby shoots. None of the other seeds have shown any activity though....ARE THEY FAKE!?!?!?

Grow more, my little plantlings...grow...and then we will EAT YOU! Yum!

Here is a sample of the hard work we do:
